Herma has introduced Hermatherm nature (grade 900) adhesive material for thermal printer labels approved for food contact and claimed to be the first of its kind worldwide. The new material is claimed to be completely free from chemical developers – the substances generally used to create an imprint.

The new label stock was developed in partnership with Koehler Paper; its thermal paper Blue4est Pro has already been used to produce environment-friendly till receipts for some time.

Labels made from the new material are simple to use in all conventional thermal printers. A further benefit lies in the multi-layer adhesive 62Dps used by Herma, which is migration-safe and approved for direct contact with dry, moist and fatty foodstuffs. With its multi-layer technology and low-migration properties 62Dps can be used in cool environments. The new label stock Hermatherm nature (900) was originated in partnership with Koehler Paper.

HERMAtherm nature is very suitable for weighing fruit and vegetables in supermarkets. EAN codes and other bar codes can be displayed very well. The paper is very oil resistant. Exposure to moisture causes discolouration of the paper. However this reaction is reversible and when dry the readability of the print image is unchanged. Printing speeds of up to 200 mm/s are possible in thermal direct printing.
